iPad drawrin'

I think every artist who got themselves an iPad has tried/hoped/given up hope for drawing on it.  The technology just isn't there, in my humble opinion, to do much without a tremendous learning curve.  There are people doing incredible stuff, don't get me wrong, but in general I believe there just hasn't been a decent drawing app that makes it fun to draw and closely resembles old fashioned drawing on paper.
Well, I'm here to announce that, with the introduction of Wacom's Bamboo Paper, this is... uh.... well, still the case, only slightly less so.
This is the app that most closely resembles what I would want a drawing app to be, and to be fair, it's not even a drawing app, it's for taking notes, apparently.  It's not perfect; there's no line weight considerations other than being able to choose light, medium or thick, and about 6 basic colors, but I really enjoyed sketching with it.
This is your bare bones drawing app- no layers, barely any preferences to choose from, but for the iPad 1 that I have, it's the most responsive and natural app I've tried.  There's very little lag when you lay down a line, and best of all, there's virtually no learning curve.

My favorite part?  It's totally free in the App store until the end of June.

Here's 3 quick little drawings I whipped up while deciding whether I liked the app or not...

Don Draper

Ryan Reynolds

A very Gleason-esque Alec Baldwin.

Lots of fun.  I like how the lines resemble your basic fine tip Sharpie.  I can't imagine refining anything to be much tighter than these, but it seems that having an intuitive drawing experience on the iPad is closer than ever.

Cool! I got the new Wacom Bamboo Stylus this week and love it, Ed. I'll try this app out now with it. Thanks for the heads up! Posted by Keelan on June 18 at 2:36 PM
