Last weekend in DC at the 69th annual National Cartoonists Society's Reuben awards, I was honored with the plaque for Best in Advertising and Product Illustration division! Neat!
The phrase, 'It's just an honor to be nominated' is often thrown around without thinking, but this year it's even more meaningful, since I was up against Dave Whamond and Kevin Kallaugher. Both are extremely talented artists who I admire, and are equally if not more deserving of this than me.
Another reason this one is extra special is that it was the result of a new voting system, that for the first time, allows the entire membership to cast their vote in each category. What used to be a small jury of your peers voting on who would win, now the jury is the entire NCS membership. What else can be said about that?
